The Ceiling Takes Shape

I took some time off work this week and went out with friend Eric a couple of times to try to turn the corner on our ceiling, finishing up the insulation and getting the panels installed.

The insulation up to the peak went a lot faster with this scaffolding we rented from the True Value in town:

It was a good system, one guy up top, one guy handing up stuff from the ground:

Ta-Da!

Katie and I decided to finish the walls and ceiling with paneling instead of drywall for a couple of reasons. Number one, drywall doesn't belong in a cabin. Number two, I don't really want to do any taping/mudding/sanding again, ever if I can help it. I think it turned out pretty good:

Did I mention that the stove and oven are hooked up and fully functioning?

Super Sunday

We took advantage of our freakishly warm non-winter to head up to C.F. last weekend to hang some more insulation. Seriously, we are almost done insulating. It feels like we've been at it forever. With me cutting pieces to size and Ray on the ladder, we were able to finish the large area above the windows in the living room. We also got as much of the ceiling as we could reach on ladders. Ray is planning on renting some scaffolding later in the month to get the highest portions. It was a balmy 40 degrees and actually a really beautiful day to be out there. It was a relatively light day's work and we made it home in time for Ray and Guthrie to enjoy the Super Bowl!
