More Chandeliers

Thank you to everyone that sent me emails about chandeliers. Your input is really helpful! Thanks in part to your comments, I am now leaning back towards an antler chandelier. Here are a few good ones I have been looking at lately. A really nice one popped up on Craigslist yesterday. It looks beautiful and huge and would probably be perfect. The only problem is they want an exorbitant amount of money for it. I could get a comparable new one for the price they are asking. I'm going to keep an eye one it and see if the price comes down. This is one that I found online for about half what these jerks are asking for the Craigslist one:So here is a different option that we are all pretty excited about. I think what I like about this is how unexpected it is, even though it is still classic lodge decor. I also like the asymmetrical lights. One thing I don't like about it is that it has a cheesy glass down light in the center which is a bit hard to see in this picture. Hmmm... so far, still undecided but if I had to pick one right now, though, I think I'd go moose. We spent some time at Menard's yesterday looking at paneling again. I think we are really close to pulling the trigger on this one. It is fake wood, of course, as real wood paneling would be cost prohibitive. It looks pretty nice, though and has a lot of texture to it. I really hope it looks good, but since it is a special order item, we are basing the decision on a small sample piece. I really wish I could see a full sheet of it before ordering, but that is just not the way it works. I have to say, it is pretty insane to be making decorating decisions given the fact that this time last year all we had were some concrete posts in the ground!

Decorating Quandry

Things are really starting to come together up at the cabin and I feel like I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't want to say that we're almost done, but it is starting to feel like we may actually finish this project and not be working on it for the rest of our lives. We spent Sunday hanging more insulation and only have a few walls to go. The next step will be to close up the walls with paneling. We opted for paneling because we will not have to tape it, mud it, sand it or paint it. It is more expensive than drywall, but the labor savings will be great. We are leaning towards a dark wood look paneling that hopefully, will look very cool. Paneling is on sale at Menards this weeks and we are hoping to order it shortly. Ray scheduled a week off in February and is planning to hang much of the paneling then. We will need to rent some scaffolding to reach the high ceilings in the main room. We are planning on hanging some kind of light from the center of that room. Ray just informed me that I should figure out what I want to hang there so he can install it while we have the scaffolding. The ceilings in that room are 20 feet high, so whatever we hang in there has to be substantial. I was kicking around the idea of getting an antler chandelier. It is classic cabin decor and would look really great in there. But lately, I have been having second thoughts about that plan. I don't want the cabin to look too theme-y and I am wondering if the antler chandelier is a bit cliche. Here are some chandelier alternates I have been considering and I would love input if anyone has any strong opinions on light fixtures.
