Thank you to everyone that sent me emails about chandeliers. Your input is really helpful! Thanks in part to your comments, I am now leaning back towards an antler chandelier. Here are a few good ones I have been looking at lately. A really nice one popped up on Craigslist yesterday. It looks beautiful and huge and would probably be perfect. The only problem is they want an exorbitant amount of money for it. I could get a comparable new one for the price they are asking. I'm going to keep an eye one it and see if the price comes down. This is one that I found online for about half what these jerks are asking for the Craigslist one:So here is a different option that we are all pretty excited about. I think what I like about this is how unexpected it is, even though it is still classic lodge decor. I also like the asymmetrical lights. One thing I don't like about it is that it has a cheesy glass down light in the center which is a bit hard to see in this picture. Hmmm... so far, still undecided but if I had to pick one right now, though, I think I'd go moose. We spent some time at Menard's yesterday looking at paneling again. I think we are really close to pulling the trigger on this one. It is fake wood, of course, as real wood paneling would be cost prohibitive. It looks pretty nice, though and has a lot of texture to it. I really hope it looks good, but since it is a special order item, we are basing the decision on a small sample piece. I really wish I could see a full sheet of it before ordering, but that is just not the way it works. I have to say, it is pretty insane to be making decorating decisions given the fact that this time last year all we had were some concrete posts in the ground!
I gave my nod to Ray towards the antler chandelier or "anything that I can swing from easily" which included a wagon wheel. I have to say I LOVE the idea of the Moose one. Its very abstract almost alien shape is really intriguing. is the center light just a junky fixture? Have you been able to see one in person? Im assuming all the components of it could be swapped out easily, so you could replace the central fixture with some less whiskey tango.
ReplyDeleteThe center fixture is just a junky glass shade. I'm sure we could probably either disconnect it or swap it with something cooler, but since I found this one online, it's hard to be sure without seeing it in person. Ray said you'd probably shoot back with a suggestion of something made out of swords, so I'm a little disappointed so far...
ReplyDeleteOk, so

Thank you, Mr. Lewis. Your suggestions did not disappoint!
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for the bones version. Or maybe we can fashion our own out of the spines of trespassers....
