Decorating Quandry

Things are really starting to come together up at the cabin and I feel like I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't want to say that we're almost done, but it is starting to feel like we may actually finish this project and not be working on it for the rest of our lives. We spent Sunday hanging more insulation and only have a few walls to go. The next step will be to close up the walls with paneling. We opted for paneling because we will not have to tape it, mud it, sand it or paint it. It is more expensive than drywall, but the labor savings will be great. We are leaning towards a dark wood look paneling that hopefully, will look very cool. Paneling is on sale at Menards this weeks and we are hoping to order it shortly. Ray scheduled a week off in February and is planning to hang much of the paneling then. We will need to rent some scaffolding to reach the high ceilings in the main room. We are planning on hanging some kind of light from the center of that room. Ray just informed me that I should figure out what I want to hang there so he can install it while we have the scaffolding. The ceilings in that room are 20 feet high, so whatever we hang in there has to be substantial. I was kicking around the idea of getting an antler chandelier. It is classic cabin decor and would look really great in there. But lately, I have been having second thoughts about that plan. I don't want the cabin to look too theme-y and I am wondering if the antler chandelier is a bit cliche. Here are some chandelier alternates I have been considering and I would love input if anyone has any strong opinions on light fixtures.

  2. Antlers seem to be in the lead although I have had two votes for making my own. *Sigh*

  3. Good Morning World, Forecast 12" of snow in Nebraska on Saturday. Regarding the lighting fixture options for Camp Freedom: Consider this,, Antlers are nice but the primary function is to draw the eye to the display of the antlers, secondary function is to light the area. The space is massive and will take a lot of lamps to illuminate the living room. Since the fixture will be high in the air, pick lamps that will last a long long time. I like the airy type of fixture that will not block the view of the ceiling and the loft.
But that is just me. Grandpa Ray
